Everyone helped cut the trees for firewood
First of all, we give all glory to God for His wonderful guidance for the Adonai orphans ministry. God gives us victory in the midst of different kinds of troubles and challenges. We are so honored by the generous support and partnership of Agape Fish Fund for this orphans ministry in Myanmar. We express our sincere thanks to the president and board members of Agape Fish Fund for their faithful commitment and generous support to meet the needs of the orphans' nutrition. And we are so thankful to all our private donors, prayer partners and friends who are standing with us to serve the Lord among these suffering orphans.

Health Update

Winter has come, and the weather is so cold that all the orphans have gotten sick easily since they live in a bamboo house. Among the orphans, 6 of them got sick this month. They had symptoms such as lip pain, mouth pain, headache, toothache, and stomachache. Some of the children had loose teeth, which caused them pain. Mrs. Rev. Thang helped them pull out their loose teeth, and these children could not eat hot or hard food right away. After a few days though they were okay. I am willing to bring all our orphans to a medical doctor to check their stomachs for worms. I suspect they have worms inside their stomachs because they have pain in their stomachs and feel nauseated.

Agape Fish Fund partners with PovertyCure to educate the Vietnamese community how to effectively help alleviate poverty for missions.
Picture
Agape Fish Fund is pleased to be an official partner of PovertyCure. PovertyCure is a Christian initiative that seeks to promote lasting, enterprise-based solutions that affirm the roles of individuals and families in turning around their situations.

PovertyCure has already become well-established, with over 400 partner organizations worldwide in over 140 countries. They have seen communities turn around when we focus on asking “What causes wealth?” instead of “What causes poverty?” Instead of giving aid, these solutions focus on enabling people to create value and prosperity for themselves, through business, enterprise, and entrepreneurship.

About PovertyCure

Grounded in economics and fueled by a spiritual passion for serving others, PovertyCure is focused on serving impact-driven individuals and organizations by:
  1. Providing a rally point where like-minded people can connect and collaborate
  2. Giving a voice to entrepreneurs and development activists from around the world
  3. Producing thought-provoking, sharable content and research in their blog, short video series, educational curriculum, and documentary film.

Mid-Project Report: Homeless Ministry (Nov 2017)

Agape Fish Fund partners with local churches and volunteers to provide meals, supplies, and Christian support for the homeless in San Jose, California.
Picture
This fall, not only did we help with the big Thanksgiving event for the homeless at Forager, but we also continued with our regular visits to the encampments.

On a typical Saturday, we have about 15 volunteers going to serve about 8-10 homeless people. We’ve distributed tire repair kits, water, canned foods with crackers, socks, and shoes. These supplies have provided the homeless with basic necessities to get by on a day to day basis.

This kind of service provides new volunteers with the experience of interacting with people who are homeless. It allows people to talk with them on a personal level and understand the conditions that they go through on a daily basis.

Monterey Bay Aquarium Field Trip

Learning is fun when it’s under the sea! On Saturday, November 11, 2017, a group of 18 of us went to Monterey Bay Aquarium for a 3-hour field trip. We had 2 middle school students, 10 elementary school students, and 6 volunteers.

We had the fortune of being accepted to the Free-to-Learn program at the aquarium, similar to last year. This provided us with tickets for all the students and tutors.
