First of all, we give all glory to God for His wonderful guidance for the Adonai orphans ministry. God gives us victory in the midst of different kinds of troubles and challenges. We are so honored by the generous support and partnership of Agape Fish Fund for this orphans ministry in Myanmar. We express our sincere thanks to the president and board members of Agape Fish Fund for their faithful commitment and generous support to meet the needs of the orphans' nutrition. And we are so thankful to all our private donors, prayer partners and friends who are standing with us to serve the Lord among these suffering orphans.

Health Update

Winter has come, and the weather is so cold that all the orphans have gotten sick easily since they live in a bamboo house. Among the orphans, 6 of them got sick this month. They had symptoms such as lip pain, mouth pain, headache, toothache, and stomachache. Some of the children had loose teeth, which caused them pain. Mrs. Rev. Thang helped them pull out their loose teeth, and these children could not eat hot or hard food right away. After a few days though they were okay. I am willing to bring all our orphans to a medical doctor to check their stomachs for worms. I suspect they have worms inside their stomachs because they have pain in their stomachs and feel nauseated.

Ms. Dawt has Tuberculosis

Ms. Dawt Rem Chin is the eldest among the orphans, but her health is not as good as the others'. She is in grade 4. Because of her poor health, she hasn't improved much in her education. She works hard in her studies and by the help of God she used to pass her test and exams. In the past she has coughed nonstop for a month long, but then she would be good after having medicine. This time, however, she became thinner and thinner, and she lost her appetite. We prayed to God for her healing. Finally I brought her to a doctor, and the doctor suspected she had asthma. She took medicine for some days, but it did not work; she became weaker and weaker. Finally God provided us with some financial donation for the orphans and I brought her to a pediatric specialist who gave her a scan and blood test. The tests showed that she has tuberculosis. She has to take medicine for at least six months. She has been taking the medicine but she is suffering from dizziness and nausea because the medicine for tuberculosis is strong. We trust the Lord will help and she will recover soon.

God's Wonderful Provision for Medicine

This month has been a really tough month for the Adonai orphans ministry. The orphans were sick, and we had financial challenges to provide for their medication. Most of the time, we do not bring our orphans to the clinic, and we just depend on God’s supernatural healing. Or sometimes Mrs. Rev. Thang just asks the pharmacy for some medicine and the orphans recover with simple treatment. But this month, our orphan girl Ms. Dawt was diagnosed with tuberculosis, and we were in need of more finances for her medication. We did not have any extra money for such medicine. We trusted the Lord and prayed for Ms. Dawt. God heard our prayers, and a man of God Bishop Timothy sent the equivalent of $180 for the orphan’s ministry. We were so surprised to receive it. God did a miracle. I met Bishop Timothy 11 years ago, and he knows that we are working for the orphans. He wanted to bless the orphans with a one-time donation. We were so humbled by his love donation, and we used that money for Ms. Dawt’s medication and for the other orphans’ medication. Our God is a real God and worthy to be worshiped. I believe that Ms. Dawt will recover and she will be able to catch up on her lessons well.

Gifts of Sweets

One Sunday morning, on the 9th of December, a Burmese brother named Ko Latt came to visit us. He is a merchant man, and he blessed our Adonai orphans with a bag of candy. The orphans very seldom get  sweets like this, and they were so glad to taste it. Brother Ko Latt asked the orphans to eat the candy while he was there, so he could see their pleasure. Brother Ko Latt encouraged the orphans with very good words, to not be discouraged because they were orphans and in poverty. He also said to us, “If you have some urgent needs, you can contact me. I will try to be a help to your orphans."  His words gave us strength. We are so grateful for him; we appreciate his heart and love for the orphans. We keep him in our prayer list, and every night we include him in our prayer.

Special Noodles

On December 2nd, Mrs. Rev. Thang prepared very nice noodles for the orphans, since it was her second son's birthday that day. The orphans had never eaten these special noodle before. It was their first time. The orphans prayed blessings for Mr. Biak, who turned 7 that day, and everyone enjoyed the special noodles. The orphans are very excited to celebrate the birth of Christ and have fellowship, fun, and good food like noodles.

Cutting Firewood

There is a Galilee Baptist Church near our orphanage, and they have land for their church with some big trees. They expressed care and concern for on our orphans’ ministry, and one day their pastor Rev. Hrang Bik came and told us to cut some of their trees for firewood. We were very happy to cut trees for firewood. On December 16th, we all went as a family, including all the orphans, Rev. Thang and his wife, and the cook, to cut trees together for firewood. All the orphans happily helped by carrying wood, collecting wood, and piling it. That day was a busy, tough day but no one felt tired because the presence of God went with us. We did not ask anyone to help us, but our neighbors came to help us. They are a son and father, and both of them came to help us, so we finished cutting the wood within a day. God is so good. He leads us and guides us incredibly.

Spiritual and Educational Update

We are so glad to see how the orphans have grown spiritually. We do not need to tell them what to do and how to behave in school and in the community. They have kept in their minds what has already been told to them. Singing God’s praise is one of their favorite things to do. They love reading the Bible, singing songs, and praying. They are so excited to have devotions every morning and evening. Morning devotions are short, but evening devotions take longer because the Bible teaching class is included. They are very responsive to God’s words.

God gives them a good memory, and their educational skill has improved. They pass every test and exam. They fully understand that the fear of God is the beginning of knowledge.

Miracle of Healing Mentally Challenged Orphan

We praise the Lord for His wonderful act upon Mr. Thla, who is mentally challenged. Last year he was in the hospital for nearly a month because of his nervous system problem. We have been so worried about Mr. Thla because of his being mentally challenged. He could not read and write properly before. But we had a time of fasting and prayer last month, from November 25-29. I anointed him with oil and prayed for his restoration. Since then, he has been good, day after day. Now he can write and read like the other children.

I could not believe it! I tested him to see if he could memorize and recite his lessons without looking at his notes. He can read very well, and he has no more problems with reading or writing. We know full well that this is the wonderful act of God. Now he is a very good student, a very good and lovely boy.

Thanks to Private Donors

We are very thankful to sister Adar form Melbourne for her regular offering of the equivalent of $75 per month. She loves the orphans and helps us every month regularly. Her family is blessed now that they have moved to their new bigger house in Melbourne.  And we are so thankful to my own brother who lives in Midland, Texas, for his regular donation of the equivalent of $50 per month. Per his request, we pray for him as he is applying for citizenship. If he gets citizenship then he plans to visit us next year and see the orphans. We bless them; we love them and pray for them.

Prayer Requests for Orphans’ Ministry

The Adonai orphans’ ministry has two prayer requests:
  1. Please pray for the continued challenges that come from the tuberculosis medication. Ms. Dawt needs to take the medicine for at least 6 months. After 6 months, they will double check if the tuberculosis is gone. If not, she will need to take the medicine for up to nine months.
  2. Please pray for 2018 as we move by keeping faith in God. Humanly thinking, we are afraid for our future, but we hope and believe that God will provide for us. Please pray that God will enrich us with His grace and provide for the needs of the orphans. May God bless you all abundantly.
