Celebrating 20 Years

We are so grateful for everyone who has been serving by tutoring, mentoring, and discipling through the low-income tutoring ministry over the years. Last year, 2018, marked the 20th anniversary of when the first group of volunteers moved into different apartments (355 and 360) on O'Keefe Street back in 1998 and started hanging out with the kids.

There have been so many changes over the past 20 years, but God has remained faithful through it all. We are so grateful that he continues to draw people to the neighborhood and the tutoring program. We are praying for all of the volunteers and the families they touch!

Tutoring resumes in the new year

After the holidays, we were looking forward to starting another new semester together. Classes resumed on January 8th for the students, so we resumed our tutoring on Thursday, January 10th. We continue to tutor every week on Mondays and Thursdays. And we continue to ensure the safety of our kids, as we require all volunteers to be registered and fingerprinted.

Saturday Brunch

On Saturday, February 2nd, a group of us gathered for brunch to enjoy each other's company outside of the usual tutoring sessions.

Valentine's Day

We celebrated Valentine's Day by having hot pot and chocolate fondue with the tutors!

Community day

On February 23rd we had a community day on East O’Keefe street with the kids. We picked up garbage on the sidewalks and then came back to the apartment to decorate cookies. We had a blast! Thanks to everyone who helped!
