Mid-Project Report: Vietnam Heart Surgery (June 2018)

Agape Fish Fund partners with Vets with a Mission (VWAM) to provide life-saving heart surgery for poor children in Vietnam. 

​In spring 2018, Vets with a Mission sent 3 medical mission teams to Vietnam. During their first trip in March, the medical team identified two patients to receive heart surgery.

Heart Patient 1: Ho Thi Huong, 41-year-old woman

One of them is Ho Thi Huong, a 41-year-old woman. Without the heart procedure, she would suffer a premature death. 

Heart Patient 2: Phi Ho Kim Hue, 3-year-old boy

The other heart surgery patient is Phi Ho Kim Hue, a 3-year-old boy. He not only had  a cleft palate but also a heart problem. 

When his mother brought him to the clinic in Hong Ha, she had a very sad look on her face. She was hopeless and heartbroken, wondering if her son would ever get the help he needed.

When she was told that her little boy would receive cleft-palate surgery and heart surgery sponsored by VWAM, she was overjoyed.

Surgeries sponsored in memoriam

What makes these heart surgeries special are their relationship to board member Dr. Tom Love and his wife Holly. VWAM sponsored these heart surgeries in their honor and in memory of their daughter Rebecca. She passed away last year. The 2 heart procedures will cost $5,270.
